It Started With A Book….

It was 2015 and Mark Williams was celebrating the Christmas holidays, with a day trip to the Bavarian (and snowy) village of Leavensworth in Washington State. As the family browsed the festive stores, Mark’s eldest daughter, Emma, expressed an interest in beekeeping after noticed a book. That book was “The Beekeeper’s Bible” and, along with his mother (visiting from the UK), ensure Emma was out sight and purchased the book as one more gift for Emma’s Christmas stocking.

Though the book was intended for his daughter, Mark took a look at the book late that Christmas night. He became instantly hooked on learning more about this fascinating creature. 

As Mark’s fascination with bees grew, he began his quest to learn as much as he could. He found that, although there were some great books available, there were few websites providing a comprehensive overview and details about honeybees and beekeeping. 

With a technical background and years of experience in the computer field, Mark was the perfect person to create a website that did just that! He wanted to create an online space where beekeepers, regardless of their experience level, could learn more about beekeeping and connect with other beekeepers.

And so, PerfectBee was born!  

Though Mark hadn’t previously considered beekeeping for himself, as his knowledge grew, so too did his confidence. Mark soon became a beekeeper himself, becoming able to share his real-life experience in addition to the information his research and new beekeeping connections provided. 

Over the past almost-decade, with the help of many experts and extensive research, PerfectBee and Mark have been able to grow the library of information and resources available and the site has become a way for beekeepers to access all the information and supplies they need to be successful at this wonderful hobby.
