Smaller cells are believed by many beekeepers to lead to superior mite resistance.
The use of crimped wire foundation is popular approach with beekeepers looking to retain a more natural approach, by avoiding the use of plastic foundation. Crimped wires are embedded vertically through the foundation to add strength and support to the beeswax.
For frames that will be run through an extractor, it is important to provide an additional support, with support pins. For frames in the brood chamber and therefore not to be used in an extractor, less support is needed.
Shipping Note: Due to the relative fragility of this beeswax foundation, this item ships ‘at your own risk’ from our facility in New York during the winter months, due to being very brittle at low temperatures.
